Under, With, Through, Off

How do we deal with existing structures? How is it possible to withdraw from imposing systems while staying active and in motion? In this video performance a female performer, trained as a dancer, moves with a simple grid-like structure on her back; slowly moving under it, with it, through it, and eventually taking it off. It is a sculptural encounter between a body, another body – the object, and space. Simultaneously hearing/reading the reflections of that performer – a critical ‘self scanning’ of her body parts – the questions arise if we ‘have’ or if we ‘are’ our bodies, and how a different proposition regarding the body-mind-problem constitutes a particular relationship towards external structures.
