The weekly improvisation workshop at Musrara is based on a model developed by Eddie Prevost, a British percussionist who has convened several ensembles for free improvisation. In the workshop, we explore improvisation through a double approach of exploration and dialogue. There is no attempt to make music in the usual sense of the word, or to demonstrate the skill of the players, but is rather an attempt to explore all the possible means at our disposal when playing music. Each session involves a unique dialogue that is shape through listening to others, to the environment, and to the explorative self.
