Shame is a docu-animation project that seeks to examine the relationship between the artist and the participants in the project. The artist, as someone coming to the situation from outside, asks to peek inside the minds of "locals" like an anthropologist or explorer. As an external observer, she is apparently in a position of power, but without the potential participants - "research subjects" - she has nothing. The work explores feelings of discomfort, shame and embarrassment as they arise from the situation, whether on the part of the artist or on the part of the participants, as a basis of common humanity for her and participants as they are.

The project was developed during the Musrara Residency Program
